Ali was diagnosed with a large omphalocele during a 20 week prenatal appointment. His bowels and liver were in the omphalocele. We were switched to the Children’s Hospital Unit. Preparing for my baby not to come home and taking a tour of where he would be staying was an emotional roller coaster. Khyrie’s stay was 3 weeks in the NICU, home for two weeks, then back again for a final two weeks due to complications and being fed through a tube.

I am grateful for the staff the surgeons doctors and nurses. To all parents who have dealt with this: you are not alone and you and your babies are true warriors. Khyrie is now walking, talking, and thriving at 14 months old.
