Questions about C-Sections and Recovery

Depending on the size of your baby’s omphalocele your doctor may suggest or tell you that you have to have a c-section. This is for the safety of your baby and their omphalocele. Often doctors will want you to schedule this at 39 weeks but each doctor and office is different. Having a c-section may sound scary but as prior O moms we have been there and are willing to talk to you! Here are some questions to ask your doctor prior to delivery as well as helpful recovery tips.

Questions for your Doctor:

  • When can I drive again?

  • When will I be able to pump?

  • When can I exercise?

  • When do the stitches come out or dissolve?

  • What are my limitations?

Recovery Tips:

  • As soon as you can, get up and walk

  • Stool softeners and gas relief

  • Ice Pack

  • Heating Pad

  • Loose clothes or dresses

  • Accept the help from others
