O Warrior Thanks Case Hollon for Raising $10K

Case Hollon, a 3 year old O Warrior from Kearney, Missouri raised $10,000 for our organization with the support of his parents, Heather and Blake Hollon.

We are extremely grateful for their efforts leading to a generous donation to help us support other omphalocele families. The funds in this donation will go to some important O Warrior initiatives: family grants, specialty car seat purchases and shipping, O Angel Program, and the further development of our education materials and community outreach.

So, how did a 3-year old O Warrior raise $10,000? To start, his daycare came up with the idea of celebrating Omphalocele Day (January 31). Case’s mom, Heather, planned to bring a special snack and the kids planned to wear black and white. To take it a step further, the day care wanted to do a fundraise and they decided on a coin drive. The Hollons worked with a local bank (Kearney Trust Company) to not only collect the coins, but to also match every donation that came in!

Once the Hollons had a local partner, they created a flyer announcing the coin drive and Omphalocele Day and spread the word throughout their community. They also put it in the local newspaper and accepted digital donations via Venmo to expand the reach.

When it was all said and done, coins were counted and the Hollons were able to donate over $10,000 to O Warrior.

Are you interested in hosting your own fundraiser locally? Here’s a recap of how the Hollons did this:

  • Choose a day + donation point for your donations (coins, cash, Venmo, etc)

  • Create flyers or other materials to spread the word about the O Warrior cause and what the funds are for

  • If possible, partner with a local organization to spread the word and match any possible donations

Did you know? O Warrior is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so the donations are tax deductible.
