Ask An O Mom!
Join us Sunday, March 15th at 2:00PM (EST) for our March support group! We're happy to have three O moms, Haley Marchetti, Lauren Read, and Rachel Howay joining us.
Meet the New Moms!
Haley
Haley is a mom of two beautiful daughters. Her firstborn, Millie, was diagnosed with a giant omphalocele. From early on in her pregnancy, Haley stepped into a journey filled with so many unknowns. Millie was delivered at VCU in Richmond, VA and spent only 9 days in their NICU before coming home. At only 8 months old, Millie had full closure surgery. Haley is honored to share their story in hopes of offering encouragement, connection, and peace to other omphalocele families walking a similar path.
Lauren
Hello, my name is Lauren Read and I am the mom to a beautiful 2 year old named Emerson. We were diagnosed with a giant omphalocele at 13 weeks pregnant and later learned about additional diagnoses including pentalogy of cantrell, tetralogy of fallot, and Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome. Emerson has had multiple surgeries and struggled with feeding difficulties but is now developing perfectly alongside her peers. She loves to dance and play with her babydolls. We are currently pregnant with a baby boy who has no abdominal wall or heart defects. I look forward to sharing more of our story soon!
Rachel
Rachel is a mom to Mason, who is currently 2 years old and was born with a Giant Omphalocele. She works as a registered nurse and resides in Wisconsin. Mason’s Omphalocele was diagnosed at Rachel’s anatomy scan, around 20 weeks pregnant. He decided to join the world when Rachel was 33 weeks pregnant. He spent 4 months in the NICU dealing with respiratory problems, feeding issues and attempting the “chip clip” method to reduce the Omphalocele. Mason had his closure surgery at 18 months and has been thriving since! No tubes and developmentally caught up! Rachel is also pregnant with another boy, due in June!
